Introduction

Segment 1: Welcome!

Have you lost a loved one to suicide? Well, this course was designed especially with you in mind. Suicide bereavement is unique as compared to other forms of bereavement and has elements of post-traumatic stress and prolonged and complicated grief.. yet this can lead you to post traumatic resilience and growth.. the purpose of this program is to help you create a foundation from which to allow this healthy grief to occur.

I am sorry for your loss and I hope that this program can help you find a path forward, integrate your loss, and create a life full of meaning, joy and purpose.

In the following segments you will learn:

The process of grief from a developmental framework

What makes suicide loss grief unique and different

The components essential to suicide bereavement

How to integrate the loss

How to create meaning moving forward

And so much more

Each segment has a practice attached that you will find in the content below the video and the lessons attached to that segment. I recommend that you watch a segment per day and spend 60 minutes for the accompanying practice. This will allow for the information to take root in you and create meaningful long term change. If you have a therapist, this can be a great supplement to your work together. Some segments have a strong focus on trauma and some segments recommend the support of close and safe relationships. I will highlight this in the segments where it is most important.

Disclaimer:

This program was originally designed to be implemented in an intensive three day group format with the support and guidance of a skilled clinical trauma specialist. Yet with the rise of suicide loss and therefore the increase of suicide loss survivors, you, I have decided to create a condensed version with the basic principles of the intensive program. The hope is that I can be your guide through the steps vital to creating a strong foundation from which you can grieve, integrate the trauma of your loss, and create meaning and purpose moving forward.

I highly recommend that you do this course while in therapy or in a strong support group and I understand that not everyone is able to have access to therapy or grief groups. Therefore, I hope this can be a healing companion along your way through this difficult time of grief.

This is not meant to replace therapy but to enhance the work you are already doing. If you have a history of childhood abuse and trauma, please consider doing this course with a therapist, as some practices may be triggering and bring up unprocessed pathogenic memories. If you are looking for a trauma specialist, please look at the resources list provided in the disclaimer. They will help you find a trauma specialist in your area.

And finally,

Thank you for taking time to heal. Because a healthy you makes a healthier world.

Dr. Alina
